Carl-Philip Arnoldi

Background

Carl-Philip Arnoldi

Carl-Philip Arnoldi, 29, is a gem cutter and future successor of the traditional family business HC Arnoldi, located in Kirschweiler, near Idar-Oberstein – one of the world’s historic centres for coloured gemstones.

Fascinated by gemstones since childhood, Carl-Philip decided early on to follow in his family’s footsteps.

After completing his International Baccalaureate at the German International School in Boston (2014), he returned to Germany to begin his apprenticeship as a gem cutter in the family business, where he mastered traditional techniques and deepened his understanding of the materials, shapes, and brilliance of coloured gemstones.

To complement his craftsmanship with entrepreneurial knowledge, he pursued a degree in SME Management at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences, graduating with distinction in 2019.

During his studies and beyond, he became increasingly involved in the company’s operations, particularly in stone sourcing, client consulting, and strategic development.

With a passion for both heritage and innovation, Carl-Philip co-founded Gemhype, a digital platform that modernises gemstone distribution and presentation for professional clients alike – without losing the personal touch and commitment to quality that have defined his family’s work for generations.
