Melanie Georgacopoulos is a Greek & French jewellery artist based between London and Hamburg.

Melanie Georgacopoulos

Initially, she studied jewellery making techniques at the Mokume Intitute in Athens, followed by a BA in Sculpture at the Edinburgh College of Art and finally a Master’s at the Royal College of Art in London.

It was during her postgraduate jewellery studies at the RCA in 2007 that she came across pearls, became enchanted by them, and decided to focus on exploring contemporary pearl jewellery ever since.

Back in 2013, as she became well known internationally for her work with pearls, TASAKI invited her to collaborate.

The directional line M/G TASAKI was then born, marrying Melanie’s flair to cross design boundaries with the Japanese jewellery company’s world renowned craftsmanship.

Ten years later, the ongoing M/G TASAKI line has proven to be very successful in Japan and is now available worldwide in selected stores.

In Melanie’s work the paradoxical, intriguing nature of pearls and more recently mother of pearl, is at the core of every piece, whilst the aesthetic remains simple, structured and timeless.

She continually strives to challenge the existing preconceptions of these organic materials and that of traditional jewellery design itself.

It is this unique approach which has given her the opportunity to work on special projects for private clients and showcase her pieces at fairs and galleries worldwide.
